Wood Products Business Brings Jobs to Old Casino Bingo Site

The City of Peru announced a new business wood be coming to town.

Bob Vickrey, Peru’s economic development director, announced Universal Forest Products, a manufacturer of wood and wood alternative products based in Grand Rapids, Mich., is moving into the old Casino Bingo building.

Vickrey said while it is exciting to announce new retailers coming to town, he was pleased to announce a new manufacturer was coming to Peru.

“They expect to have 15 jobs by the end of Year 1, 30 employees by the end of Year 2 and 45 employees by the end of Year 3,” Vickrey said.

Vickrey did not provide specific wages, but he said he understood pay for the positions would be “above average” for an hourly rate.
